Dr Laura Ryan: NHS 24 Medical Director

Dr. Laura Ryan is Medical Director with NHS 24.

Having received her undergraduate degree from University College Cork in Ireland in 1998, she moved to Scotland in 2001 to complete Vocational GP training in NHS Borders. She became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, with distinction, in 2004. 

Areas of expertise

Laura applies clinical expertise to develop and govern systems and processes which will support, enable and empower the Scottish population to live longer healthier lives. This fits with the strategic aims of NHS 24 and the Scottish Government that all patients have safe, effective and person centred care as close to their own home or community as possible. 

She invests focus on optimising the whole- system interface between all organisations delivering urgent care, both in and out of hours. ​
